Gloria and ChrisGloria started High Beech Horse Riding School with her late husband.Alf, in 1970 and now operates the Horse Riding School in partnership with her son Chris. Chris has grown up with horses at the school and is a qualified horse riding instructor having attained his BHSAI Int SM and is also an A1 assessor for NVQ qualifications. -
Horse Riding Instructor: BeckyI first came to High Beech Horse Riding School in 1998 as a client and shorty afterwards started work as a groom. During my time here I have gained various qualifications including my BHS stage 3 Grooms Certificate, an NVQ level 3 in Horses and also level 3 in Management. My own horse Panache is stabled at High Beech Horse Riding School, and was kindly given to me from Gloria. When he is not lying flat on his back we enjoy practicing Parreli natural horsemanship. High Beech Horse Riding School really does feel like my second home. I am very lucky to be able to work with such lovely people and horses. Our clients feel more like friends and I don't think you could find another horse riding school with a more friendly, welcoming atmosphere. -
Horse Riding Instructor: EmmaI can clearly remember my first riding lesson at High Beech Horse Riding School, which is now 14 years ago. I rode every Saturday without fail and persuaded my mum to let me stay longer and longer each week and book on all the "own a pony" days. I soon became a Saturday girl, enjoying every part of the job and making really good friends. I built up lots of experience from the hands-on work, which led to me owning my own horse, whom I enjoy competing locally. I gained a BTEC National Diploma in horse management from Writtle College and then, I spent 8 months working for a family in Spain who offer riding holidays. My other qualifications include BHS Stage 1, Riding and Road Safety, NVQ 3 in business Management and am a fully trained first-aider. I love working with the horses, be it taking rides or as an instructor. My favourite horse are Oscar (pictured above), and Romeo with his cheeky personality. -
Horse Riding Instructor: HarrietHarriet Drew first rode at High Beech Horse Riding School shortly after her eighth birthday. As a very tall and determined 11 year old Gloria let her work for free rides (only because she thought Harriet was 14!) Having proved herself useful, she continued on to become part of the furniture. 17 years on Harriet is a part time instructor at High Beech Horse Riding School. Whether it is riding, teaching, socialising or photographing the horses, she tries to spend as much time at the yard as possible! -
Ride Escort: KateI joined High Beech Horse Riding School for my first lesson when I was 10, riding every Saturday, and giving my parents the pleasure of getting rid of me for the whole day up until the age of 14 where they lost me for the weekend to High Beech Horse Riding School! Since joining the family of High Beech Horse Riding School I was given the opportunity to do my Riding and Road safety exam, my Stage 1 and getting top marks in mucking out!! You'll mostly find me there on a Sunday doing the Tea Ride in the afternoon or taking one of our Bank Holiday rides, but failing that I'll probably be roaming the yard giving out mints (of course out of all of our wonderful horses you will find that I definitely give more to Cracker!!) -
Horse Riding Instructor: Kelly B (Volunteer)I have been riding since the age of 5 and came to High Beech Horse Riding School approximately 14 years ago. At that time, I rode on a Sunday and helped out around the yard before and after my lesson. Eventually I was given the opportunity to work on Thursday evenings and Sundays, for which I received a ride. After finishing my college course, I worked at High Beech Horse Riding School on a full time basis for 4 years. During that time I was given the opportunity to take my Stage 1, NVQ Level 2 and Level 3, Ride & Road Safety and First Aid training. Since taking up a full time job elsewhere, I have now returned to working at the Stables on a voluntary basis every Sunday and take the Monday evening rides through Epping Forest during the Summer normally with Oscar....my noble steed!!!! My favourite horses are Albert and Oscar. -
Horse Riding Instructor: Kelly MI am one of two Kelly’s, known as Kelly M. I started riding at High Beech Horse Riding School when I was about 13 years old after going to many other horse riding schools from the age of 3, but have stayed here ever since! I completed a National Diploma in Horse Management at Writtle College and started work here straight after leaving. I have quite a few qualifications, of which I am very proud, including an NVQ level 3, British Horse Society Stages 1 & 2, Riding & Road Safety Exam and am an emergency first aid appointed person. My favourite horse on the yard is Monty, who I am pictured with above. He has the best moustache ever! -
Horse Riding Instructor: LouiseI joined the workforce of High Beech Horse Riding School in December 2009, but I rode here for 4 years when I was younger. My favourite back then was Raffles for any of you who remember him! My favourite nowadays is Bailey, who is in my picture above. I have completed my British Horse Society Stages 1 & 2, my Riding & Road safety exam and am first aid trained. I have my own horses at home and regularly compete in showing, dressage and show-jumping. Hope to see you soon! -
Horse Riding Instructor: RachelThis is my 16th year teaching at High Beech Horse Riding School but started riding here over 20 years ago so I am definitely part of the furniture now! For the past six years I have lived and worked in Lincolnshire but still make the 180 mile round trip back to High Beech Horse Riding School to teach every Saturday. The beautiful forest, lovely horses and brilliant people I get to spend the day with makes it well worth the journey! I’m looking forward to plenty more years of teaching and fun! -
Horse Riding Instructor: Sarah E (Volunteer)Many years ago I started riding at High Beech Horse Riding School at the age of 6. Throughout the years I have worked as a Saturday girl, full time employee and now a volunteer, completing along the way my Riding & Road Safety exam and British Horse Society Stage 1 & 2. My favourite horse is Brandy (pictured with me above), of which we have grown up together and enjoyed the hacking Epping Forest has to offer. All the horses are special with their cheeky, loving and different characteristics and along with the staff it makes High Beech a great place to ride. -
Ride Escort: Sarah SI have been riding at High Beech Horse Riding School for over 20 years now. As a horse loving teenager, I spent all of my weekends at the yard and during university I used to travel back on a Saturday just so that I could take my 10.30 ride! I have volunteered at High Beech Horse riding School for about 15 years now and it has come to feel like a second home to me. My favourite horses are Vltava and Cracker (pictured above), but they are all special in their own way! High Beech Horse Riding School is a great place to ride and meet friends for life. -
Groom: StephHi, my name is Steph. I’ve been working at High Beech Horse Riding School since I was 16 years old. I have now completed my NVQ level 2 in Horse Care and a one day first aid course. My favourite horse at the yard is Macuslar, who I’m sharing my picture with. I have my own horse too and have been riding since I was 5 years old. -
Volunteer Groom: SusanI first came to High Beech Horse Riding School for a riding lesson in 1991 when I was eight years old and have never looked back. I have been riding for over twenty years now and have been volunteering at the stables for about the last fifteen years. You can find me there most Saturdays either knee deep in mucking out, giving out hays or sweeping. I love all the horses, but I have a soft spot for the cheeky ones and my favourites are Oscar, Macuslar and Bailey. High Beech Riding School is a great place to ride and meet people - come along and see for yourself!
